RECON MARINE
You were just a boy
When you left a home
Full of joy
You joined the service
To become a Marine
And learn how to handle
A carbine
You went to school for Recon
You wanted to be more
Than the everyday Marine icon
You then went to 'Nam
And learned about napalm
You watched your brothers die
Now you seen their faces
In the sky
You lost your heart and love
Cause you no longer see
That peace dove
Today you and the nation frown
While your buddies are placed
In the ground
Today you are no longer a boy
But back home to that family
Full of joy
Tomorrow you march in stride
With your fellow Marines
Full of pride
Next week the President will shake
Your hand in honor
For you have been awarded
The Metal of Honor
The nation keeps praising
The one in the clouds
'Cause that Recon Marine
Has made us so proud
